Well, nothing says a label whore like a luxe Hermes Blanket. I am completely obsessed with my Hermes cuff I got a couple of summers ago, I think an Hermes blanket would be a great gift for me next. The baby blue and green one would be perfect in my bedroom! ;-)
I grew up in an extremely materialistic, NYC suburb. I remember searching through my mother's shopping bags for the "best" little bag to carry my lunch in (preferably Saks or Tiffany's). We covered our text books in Laura Ashley wallpaper (in retrospect, I can't believe our mothers let us do that). It was crazy and I'm happy to live far, far from that world these days.
ReplyDeleteSeeing these blankets (and seeing people display scarf boxes like they are art) brings be back to that world. It's really hard for me to like those blankets. If my name started with an H, I might feel differently. :)
My name starts with an H :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what is it about labels that makes us love them? I think it's the feeling we get when we touch something that is luxurious or spend time in a showroom that we'd love to live in. Sometimes, we all need a bit of luxury in our lives. It makes the mundane seem more palatable.
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I'd love the blue/green one.
Dream Mom: I couldn't agree with you more! It's also nice to just mix some of your Neiman Marcus with your Home Goods! Vintage with New! Blend it all and it won't appear that obnoxious!
