I think it is so fun to set a beautiful table for guests and friends for any occasion. I recently was in a Pier 1 and came across some beautiful turquoise with gold trim cloth napkins, and then I saw them used in the image below, and thought they looked even more spectacular! A glamorous bedroom like this one can require a hefty budget.  So... I decided to break this down a bit and make it a little bit more budget friendly.  The thing is with rooms like this - going too cheap is going to make the room look that way as well.  So, I chose resources such as Custom Sofa Design, Restoration hardware, HSN where they aren't cheap, but yet they are way more down to earth than the original.

Tip: All you need in a room to make it pop - is one show stopper.  For instance in this room via In Style Home (2004) are those amazing silver ball lamps.  The entire room vanishes because your eye immediately goes to those lamps.  So keep that in mind when you are looking at something fabulous.

For instance - these lamps below (which I stupidly left at the Long Beach flea market a month back)!  Pretty unreal.

If you have a dresser or a console that needs sprucing up - do what the leading designers do. Put a pair of fear lamps evening spread out and then include a few favorite accessories, possibly a hanging mirror or some flowers to fix the drab problem. Also -- if your piece of furniture doesn't have drawers, throw 2 great matching benches underneath. It's a great place to store extra storage and will look super chic. image via DecorPad -- really like the bold purple shades. Super balls-y.

Shop Like a Designer - A new segment

All it takes is a little research and a little bit of patience and you can find the same looks interior designers find for their clients but without the hefty price tag. Keep in mind - many designers find items at antique shows and flea markets across the country for cheap... clean em up a bit and make a profit.

Below is a bamboo/chinoiserie vintage chandelier from the Long Beach Flea Market. $60. (Rewiring will cost you no more than $12 for the kit at Home Depot).

Below is an extemely similar chandelier in a great looking bedroom.... These bamboo chandeliers are quite popular and are a great mid-century vintage find!

Don't neglect your bedskirt.

I am soooo into this right now, the beautiful coordinated bedskirt! I have a solid khaki bedskirt (it matches my ballard tufted headboard perfectly) but I sooo wish I had a fabulous-ly coordinated one instead. Anyway.... If you are unsure of what to do with your entry/foyer - do what all interior designers do - and find a parsons desk and throw two small benches in super chic fabric underneath and you are good to go!

Jonathan Adler Loves the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway.

NOTE: THIS IS AN OLD POST - I was reading through old postings and wanted to re-share this. Hope you enjoy as much I did.

Have you ever heard of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee? If you live under a rock, or are not an American - It happens to be Elvis's estate where he lived for many years. In Palm Springs, there is the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway which is where Elvis and Priscilla spent their honeymoon - and it's a pretty amazing mid-century modern spot. I am dying to take a tour - and to think I've probably been to Palm Springs a zillion times - and haven't been!

Besides myself being a huge fan - obviously, so is Interior Designer, Jonathan Adler. I love JA. I think he is brilliant, but it's very to easy to spot his inspirations. He must have been inspired by the Elvis Hideaway as he has featured many elements in his projects.

Above, the living room from Elvis's honeymoon home in Palm Springs, CA. This is a really chic look - and forward for the time with an indoor fire-pit.

Jonathan Adler's design (above) has many features that are influenced by the Elvis image. Besides the indoor fire pit; there is also the rounded sofa, the scattered pillows (in a similar color palate) and the Moroccan feel. There is also that casual-ness of the ottomans and the several different seating areas divided out thru the room.
