PB Teen for fun lighting!

PB Teen (Pottery Barn) has been in my good graces lately.
Not going to lie.... I like it way better than the regular Pottery Barn.

Look how fabulous these two hanging lights are.
Whimsy, beautiful, delicate, current with trend, and budget friendly.   A great combination.

A funny story and a gorgeous interior of J. Lo's LA pad.

I am going to start this post with a little funny story.

Several years ago I was on Lake Como (Italy) with my family. My sister and I shared a hotel room, and our parent's room was just above ours. There was a gorgeous staircase that we would run up and down (I'd like to consider the Villa d' Este my second home btw!! LOL). Anyway.... one evening we were getting ready to go to Verona to see an opera when my sister decides to make an obnoxious comment about Jennifer Lopez. I nearly leaped across the room to murder her and to defend J.Lo's honor like I was the Gustapo out to protect her!! SCREAMING is an understatement. YES - two grown adults got in a screaming match over Jennifer Lopez. Aren't sisters great!? (side note - my sister is one of my best friends!!). My dad heard us from upstairs, threatened us both to be sent home if we didn't cool it. To this day we can not really discuss Jennifer Lopez - its still a sore subject.

SO --- eat your heart out! Here is her new LA pad and it's a stunner!!

Get creative with "lighting"?

I've been coming across chandeliers and pendants on fabrics and walls - and wanted to hear your thoughts.... Way cool or cheesy?

Shop like a designer - a Glam Bedroom

A glamorous bedroom like this one can require a hefty budget.  So... I decided to break this down a bit and make it a little bit more budget friendly.  The thing is with rooms like this - going too cheap is going to make the room look that way as well.  So, I chose resources such as Custom Sofa Design, Restoration hardware, HSN where they aren't cheap, but yet they are way more down to earth than the original.
Resources:
1. Hotel Collection Bedding - Amazon - $89.99 set
2. Octagon Mirror - Restoration Hardware - $195
3. Chandelier - Gallery 802 - $349
4. Drapery - Drapestyle.com - $479 for the pair
5. Love seat - Custom Sofa Design - $749
6. Rug - CSN Rugs - $281
7. Coffee Table - Nate Berkus for HSN - $279
8. Faux Fur Rug - Keepsakes-Etc. - $139

Delightfully Symmetrical

I love rooms that have pizzazz, and this room below definitely has some delightful eye candy.
The chandelier, pair of lamps, and the art of over the mantle are absolutely gorgeous and make the room come to life.   It's actually a quite simple room - those 3 key pieces really lift it up!

Relaxation....

I hope you are having a very relaxing weekend doing exactly what you want to do!!

Love - Hallie

Bigger is better

Sometimes - the best thing to do is throw in an enormous chandelier to bring it all together.
Here are three amazing examples of such.

3 gorgeous dining rooms have something in common:

And what do they have in common?
Gorgeous chairs and fantastic lighting.

So here's a budget tip: If you need to cut corners, don't focus on the table, get something clean and modern (Ikea would be a good source) and then splurge on your chairs.
Love the open space and clean lines all softened with that wide plank white hardwood floors and that glammed out chandelier.  Image via Decor Pad
Ghost chairs and Adler.... Always a strong pairing.  Image via Living Etc.

Quirky Love - From the personal file

I love quirky-ness.  I love pieces that make you do a double take and this room is filled with so so so many. It's a room filled with show stoppers and I love that!  Every piece can stand alone.
Let's begin, shall we?
1. The rams' heads coffee table base
2. The black and white rug
3. The bright yellow sofa
4. The gold side table
5. The crystal chandelier
6. The horse painting
7. The black with gold detailing credenza
8. The horn accent table
9. The khaki/grey wing chair

and the list goes on... and on.... Amazzing!

Empire Chandelier

First it started with this chandelier below..... The Empire Chandelier designed by Marjorie Skouras.
And then after a seriously successful run with the pale turquoise version - more colors came out! I am totally jocking the hot pink, black, and white versions below. There are additional color ways on the website at Dennis Miller.

They are absolutely stunning! Everytime I see a room with the Empire Chandelier, I automatically fall in love.

Feminine in the coolest way

Isn't this kitchen pretty bad ass? I am really digging the pale color palette. Tres Chic. That murano chandelier and how long it is and ornate and fragile and delicate is blowing me away. I love how soft and sweet it is against the stream lined indistrial vibed cabinetry. Also loving the dining chairs. Pretty sick room.

Pottery Barn's Sheer Pendants

I am not the biggest fan of Pottery Barn... there's absolutely nothing wrong with the store, I just love unique and one of a kind things usually found in vintage/antique shops, estate sales, etc. - BUT... some items are great from big box stores. So - with that.... I love these sheer pendants. They would be so beautiful and whimsical in a baby's bedroom, or over a dining room table to give soft light. Or maybe even over an outdoor living room area. :)
