1 Day and A Serious Make Over

A makeover in one day is seriously impressive.   Check out the One-Day challenge interior designers Pat Healing an Dan Barsanti took on for House Beautiful to make over the living room belonging to Cari Hynes, a homeowner in Westport, Connecticut.
Here (above) is what she started with - a narrow room with lots of windows, hardwood floors, and basic pieces.

After seeing this rug come down - I knew this space was going to be fanstastic.  I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A ROUND ONE OF THESE FOR MY DINING ROOM!!!!  Any suggestions of how to make one - and I'll love you for ever!! :-)
Loving te layering already and the hits are chartreuse and purple coming through.  This room is going to have mad character.
Isn't the final outcome simply BANANAS!?  I think it really came out beautiful!
If only I could complete a project in 1 day!

On my radar... Great things at World Market

World Market never disappoints me. It's like a one stop shop.
Great essentials when entertaining, good wine and beer options, cool furniture, and great cards all under one roof. What more can you ask for, right?

So - here are a few things from the "New Arrivals" that I think are fab! My raw hide rug in my living room is from here (see a pic of it here). Have you made any fantastic World Market purchases lately?

Jocking this rug

I just came across this rug over at Rugs Direct - and LOVES it!!
I'd love to purchase the round option for my dining room....
I just have a little fear with purchasing a rug online.

If you have purchased a rug online, I'd love to hear your experience with it.

And again... here is a pic of my dining chairs.  Part of me kind of wants to do a round flokati.... but I'm not so sure if flokati rugs are a good idea in a dining room.

Living Room Delight

This living room space is gorgeous!  There are so many things I like about it, I don't even know where to begin.
1. The pair of standing lamps.
2. The  6 framed prints of art.
3. The matching sofas are gorg!
4. Adler rug - terrific!
5. The soothing color pallete.

Perfection!

Slip covers done right

Such a beautiful room!  Really loving the slip covered sofas here.  I think slip covers can be tricky - as they can look a little messy at times.  BUT here - its sleek and clean and the room is fantastic.

Girly yet sophisticated! Adore!

A great rug source.

LL Bean might be known for their camping gear and monogrammed canvas tote bags - but they can also put a feather in their cap for their beautiful braided rug selection.  The rugs come in great color options and look rich and vibrant, the rectangle shaped rugs are my personal faves.

3 gorgeous dining rooms have something in common:

And what do they have in common?
Gorgeous chairs and fantastic lighting.

So here's a budget tip: If you need to cut corners, don't focus on the table, get something clean and modern (Ikea would be a good source) and then splurge on your chairs.
Love the open space and clean lines all softened with that wide plank white hardwood floors and that glammed out chandelier.  Image via Decor Pad
Ghost chairs and Adler.... Always a strong pairing.  Image via Living Etc.

Urban Outfitters can make a rug sparkle....

In my opinion - if you are on a budget, and vintage shopping and flea markets aren't cutting it, Urban Outfitters is a great source.  I just came across this rug that has a sysal, woodsy look with rows of sequins sewn throughout.  Very cool.  Reminds me of a twist on the Moroccan Wedding Blanket.  I kinda want it for my kitchen or downstairs foyer.  Find it HERE.
