Country Chic with an Eclectic Vibe!

 I am  not a huge fan of the country, shabby chic look.  

I appreciate it but personally, it's just not my taste.   

BUT - I do believe there are exceptions to everything and this room would be the exception.  

I think its great how this country styled home has punches of color and wow factors through some really fun accessories.

This is just too lovely for words.  

I rarely have kitchens in "my personal file" but this one is just way too good!  

The copper/rose gold colored pendants and the wallpaper pairing are stunning,

 especially with the super modern backdrop!

A perfect example of mixing what you love!

I am a firm believer in mixing things up. See, we all have appreciations for different arenas of design (shabby chic.. meets hollywood regency... meets mid-century modern... meets minimalist.)

Here is a fab example of bold wallpaper prints paired with clean lined furniture, paired with romantic and soft pillows. If you love it, everything will blend perfectly!

Mix Mix Mix it Up!

 This is the perfect example of mixing different periods.  We've got a tulip base table, a swag lamp, and some divinely glam Louis chairs.

Mixing it up...

The great thing about home decor trends right now is anything goes.  Whatever it is you love -- throw it all together - you can make it work.  You can mix eras, trends, high priced, low priced, flea market finds, boutique purchases, prints, textures, patterns.... the list goes on.

So, here are several great examples of mixing patterns.... You may be surprised as to what pairs well together, so even if you do have two printed fabrics that seem like they would never go together, give it a try - you might end up with something imaginative, creative, and perfect for you.

I absolutely love this living room.  The pairing of the printed fabrics against that rug is awesome.  And I am also loving that wicker chair too!  Image via Living Etc.

Well isn't this just a gorgeous way to enter your home.  This to me is stunning.  It also transitions very well each season.  You can just switch out the floral arrangement according to the season, and then lose the fur in the Spring and summer months and hang a bikini... a beach towel... whatever makes you smile.

Mixing modern with classic.

I think it looks kind of cool to mix modern pieces with vintage. It seems to make things a little bit more interesting. I read somewhere that if you do like a lot of vintage and antique styles its a good idea to do 30/70. 30% should be new and current, and then 70% can be vintage, or antiques.

So - I feel like the easiest way to do this mixing of styles would be in a dining room. Pick an antique style table and then do modern chairs (or vice-versa). Here are some ideas for the vintage-y table with modern seating.

A Modern Take on Romance

How delicately romantic yet forward is this room? I am really appreciating it. It's got the Ghost chair, with the pale cow hide rug, and the ikat inspired pillow, with that organic formed side table. Then add lots of soft white, some ruffle, flow-y curtains and a wreath (okay... not sure if I am loving the wreath) and it all comes together. I am inspired by this mixture.

Also, take note of the hunter green painted door.

Purple Passion

Saw this room and loved how bold and unique it was. It really mixes all different styles and I couldn't help but looking at all of the different elements. It's like none of it matches, that makes it all go together perfectly. I love the boldness!

Mixing Styles

The best way to describe the current trend is calling it a "hybrid." It's a blend of many styles, eras, textures.... It's taking all of the pieces that you love and making sure they harmoniously work. Here are some great examples.

This traditional desk with the funky hot pink chair is unexpected and fun.

From Nathan's Design -- this is a perfect mix - of the parsons straight edge table, mixed with the bone in lay chairs that are very ornate - with the random plate chandelier. It's modern and whimsy at its best.

I absolutely love this image, above. The tulip table with the classic chairs. Mixed with a zebra hide. I am in awe!

I love how modern the furniture is here all against the classic and traditional walls, trims, and crown molding. It's so tongue in cheek.

That chandelier is perfect to mix with the modern-mod vibe here.

From Domino Magazine - I love this. The classic moldings, with the clean-line dining table, with the dramatic chandeliers. This is amazing and smart.
