Shop like a designer....

Tip: All you need in a room to make it pop - is one show stopper.  For instance in this room via In Style Home (2004) are those amazing silver ball lamps.  The entire room vanishes because your eye immediately goes to those lamps.  So keep that in mind when you are looking at something fabulous.

For instance - these lamps below (which I stupidly left at the Long Beach flea market a month back)!  Pretty unreal.

Quirky Love - From the personal file

I love quirky-ness.  I love pieces that make you do a double take and this room is filled with so so so many. It's a room filled with show stoppers and I love that!  Every piece can stand alone.
Let's begin, shall we?
1. The rams' heads coffee table base
2. The black and white rug
3. The bright yellow sofa
4. The gold side table
5. The crystal chandelier
6. The horse painting
7. The black with gold detailing credenza
8. The horn accent table
9. The khaki/grey wing chair

and the list goes on... and on.... Amazzing!

Every room needs a show stopper. See Kishani Perera

Looking through all of these images of room designed by Interior Designer Kishani Perera made me find the one thing all of these rooms have in common. That common factor is each room has at least one serious show stopper... converation piece, and she does an amazing job at putting all of these rooms together which so much style.

Kishani Perera is an LA girl (yay!) with a New York office.  She has designed homes for Molly Sims, Josh Duhamel, Vanessa Marcil and more.  She has quite a fabulous and impressive resume.
Above is model, Molly Sims' office. (PS- saw her last night at Dan Tana's) anyway... show stopper would be the loud pillows, fantastic dress form and that chic chandelier.
Show Stopper - wicker cage chair.  Unreal.

Show stopper - chandelier and the bone in lay furniture. Chic. Chic. Chic.

Show stopper - Moroccan Wedding Blanket.

Show stopper - the entire coat rag hanging system!!! WOW!

Show stopper - the large peacock inspired mirror (which can now be found at Pier1

Chinoiserie Lamps

I know these lamps are a bit weird, but I really, really like them. Funny is that I actually saw a lamp exactly like this pair at a thrift shop on Fairfax - but, it was $200 just for 1, and it needed to be re-wired and had a dreadful lamp shade, but I think these are just statement pieces.

A Neat Accent Chair

Pretty neat accent chair and sitting spot.
1. Love the tufting and nail head details, as well as the actual shape of the chair.
2. The Madeleine Weinreb rug is pretty fantastic.
3. Love the pop of red with the garden stool.
4. The pharmacy lamp adds an element of antique-y, making it stand out even more, since its not on the funky page.
5. The black bench with the striped pillow
6. The dark wood floors arae beautiful.

Lovely.

Beautiful Ceilings

A lot of times you don't really think about the ceiling, except for adding a chandelier for a light source, but how about making it the "show stopper" of the room. Here are three beauties that I just adored! image via House Beautiful

This image may be from House of Turquoise.... but I am not sure! Sorry!

Ever heard of the furniture company, Boca Do Lobo? It's intricate, streamlined, yet takes a twist on classic design styles. It's different and interesting. It truly is show stopper worthy.

Anthropologie Hot Picks

You know I love a good "Hot Picks" blog entry. So, I've headed over to Anthropologie.com to pick some of my faves. Let me know what you think - or if you have some other favorites of theirs to share. I've seen this lamp in the store - and it's pretty stunning. The finial on top has gold flower detailing that match the base. It's so rich.
Kitschy, fun, cute!

This table cloth makes me want to have a fiesta with lots of cervesa!

These "latte bowls" are what I have in my kitchen (in white) and I love them. They are the perfect size.
Isn't this a great showstopper!
I have brackets from here that are gorgeous and similar to these that I had up in an old apartment that held up 3 glass shelves. I am still debating on where to put them in my new place. These brackets also are good for hanging plants.
I love their 'Fleur de lys" cups. I have very similar ones from Pier 1. I love how girly and feminine they are.

Vincente Wolf's Manhattan Abode

Interior Designer, Vincente Wolf has designed the most impeccable apartment for himself, its a show piece, and each piece holds its own, is on display, yet acts harmoniously together. I have never seen such a stunning display of furniture and design. The white back drop works so well here and plays a key role. Its glamorous in a subtle way and can really tell how each item was perfectly decided on. It is the most perfectly curated museum of a home.

A Room With Glamorous Elements

Isn't this breakfast nook/dining area pretty fab? It has so many glamorous touches without being over-the-top.
1. I HEART the area rug. If anyone has seen this image before and knows who designs this rug, please let me know immediately. I love the geometric pattern and the neutral palette with the pops of gold.
2. The chandelier is fierce. It has so much drama and is such a show stopper. It's pretty amazing.
3. The mid-century modern furniture. The very clean lines of the table and straight-forwardness of the chairs which works perfectly against the more adventurous pieces of the rug, lighting source, and screen.
4. The screen. Love that. These mini screen panels separate the area to give the room its one space. It's dramatic, and gorgeous.

I am ALL About the Suzani

I can't stop blogging about ethnic fabrics and linens, and I truly am loving the Suzani. I've seen many Suzani's turned into pillows, or thrown on sofas or as bed linens - but here are some great pieces of furniture covered with Suzanis. They truly are "showstoppers!" and though they truly are trendy, I also think they are classic -- as they have so much history behind it. From the Colony Palms Hotel - Palm Springs, CA
www.brugeshome.com Would love this in a bathroom.

How gorgeous is this!? via www.annesage.com
via Chris Fawcett Interiors. Beautiful. Love the shape of the sofa, and the mix of patterns in this room.

Bone In-lay Furniture

I have discussed in the posts before, about show stopping pieces. Pieces that stand on their own, are dramatic and stunning. Bone In-lay furniture is such.

Bone In-lay furniture usually comes from India, and has the worldly - boho chic vibe that I absolutely adore. It really has so much charm and character, and the detailing on these pieces are gorgeous and intricate. It's also one of those styles when mixed, adds a really cool layer. For instance, if you put it in a super modern space - it will soften the edges and make it that much cooler. Or if you put it in a more traditional setting, it will funk it up a bit. Coffee table - From H.D. Buttercup in Culver City, CA
Moorish Chest from www.wisteria.com Wouldn't this be a stunning bedroom piece?!

www.grahamandgreen.co.uk I love these. The bright blue and white color combo is stunning.
