Does anyone else feel this way?

I don't know about you, but I am still not over the whole idea that we won't be getting any more Domino issues. Am I nuts (since its been over a year!!)? Each month when House Beautiful...Elle Decor... Lucky... Bazaar... come and there is no Domino -- I feel shortened. AND if I re-read the green Domino book one more time, I may shoot someone.

I recently purchased Living Etc (UK) and House & Home (Canada) and I will say they are great magazines - but I always feel like Domino would have done it better. Lonny is cool.. but, I like having the physical magazine in hand with the glossy pages! I look at a computer screen all day at work. Another thing... half of the stuff in those magazine you can't even get in the U.S. Its such a tease.

Anyway -- if anyone wants to bring back Domino I would be so thrilled. Anyway - here is a grouping of some Domino spreads. Enjoy.

Boho - Glam - O - Rific!

I always imagine the person who owns a particular space. For this boho-chic living room, I think it belongs to an amazing couple that are well traveled, they probably have been on a safari in Kenya and they probably are activists for clean water through out third world countries.

Well, whoever they are -- they have gorgeous taste. I love the hot pink and purple combination on that striped sofa with the gorgeous cow hide rug.

Some of my coffee table books....

I absolutely love reading my coffee table books. Many people buy them and don't even open them. But me, I read them cover to cover. I have a HUGE list of books I want to add to my small collection. I still can't believe I don't own the new book - Kelly Wearstler's 'Hue' especially since my friend, Lana Gomez did several paintings for the book. But anyway - that's another topic -- below are the books that I do have, and they are fantastic and I suggest you go out and get them your self. If you have any recommendations, please do hit me up! Ahhh - this book is brilliant. It's all based on Kelly Wearstler's previous Beverly Hills Estate, Hillcreste and its stunning. Each room is filled with layers upon layers of jewel tones and chinois. It's one of my favorites! I think its probably some of her best work.

This Chanel book is based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York's Chanel exhibit. The photography is beautiful.

I am such a sucker for baby animals! It's funny - I have wanted this book for years, but never really wanted to spend the money on it, and the other day I was walking around an antique mall and saw it laying in a booth for $7 -- brand new and looked like it had never been open - so I had to grab it. Ha ha!

Picturing Los Angeles is a collection of old photographs of the city. Its really cool to just flip thru.

Jonathan Adler's book is awesome. It completely makes me laugh, the commentary is hysterical and the forward by his husband, Simon Doonan is hysterical. The rooms he has created are also quite amazing. It all has a 1960's vibe to it its very cool. Very tongue-in-cheek and it really teaches you how to be not so serious with you own home decor.

My best friend, Christine gave me The Find for my birthday. Its an awesome book about antiquing and going to flea markets and how people pull it all together. It's an amazing book.

The design team making up Diamond Barrata are two characters who absolutely love whimsy and color. If you are looking for color inspiration, this book should be your first stop.

Ah.... the bible of all bibles.... the Domino book! I read and look thru this all the time. Its amazing! When moving into a space the first few things you should purchase are the necessities: extra hangers, some wine for the fridge and your Domino book. Everything else will fall into place after you have this.

This book is filled with Fashion Designers' homes and how they designed where they live. It's cool to see it.

Another great KWID book. She is pure genius.

Nate Berkus!! Why are you gay? Just kidding! He is really talented and this book really helps you figure out what your likes are and what your dislikes are. If you are struggling with design, this book will help you get into the right direction.

I interned for Gucci when Tom Ford was still designing for them. That was a very special era for Gucci. I was also interning there when he left and the design team was in a strange transition. I love Tom Ford. He is a master. This book is sexy, flip thru and you will see why. LOL.

A Neat Accent Chair

Pretty neat accent chair and sitting spot.
1. Love the tufting and nail head details, as well as the actual shape of the chair.
2. The Madeleine Weinreb rug is pretty fantastic.
3. Love the pop of red with the garden stool.
4. The pharmacy lamp adds an element of antique-y, making it stand out even more, since its not on the funky page.

6. The dark wood floors arae beautiful.

From the Personal File... My Bedroom Inspirations.

Well, its time for me to start designing my bedroom, and here is where I am at. I am in the process of picking the wall color now, which will be a pale turquoise.I loved these two rooms and thought they were fun and vibrant, but still soothing and calm, and perfect jumping off points for inspiration.

The main colors will be the pale turquoise walls and then all white bedding and white furniture. Accents will be in black and white as well. I swear, pics to follow as soon as I get the paint up.

This Would've Been....

If Domino Magazine hadn't closed it's doors last year, this cover above - would have been the following issue. How gorgeous, timeless, yet young and poppy is this? I am such a sucker for Suzanis and turquoise. I'd love to sleep under that gorgeous canopy every night.

My Inspirations

I was asked the other day, where do I get inspiration from. I have so, so many sources, Its so hard for me to narrow it down. But, I thought I'd share my top 10 (not in any specific order)with you, and hope that they will bring inspiration to you as well.


1. Canadian House & Home is pretty awesome. They have fantastic on-line photo galleries where you can get a ton of ideas. http://www.canadianhouseandhome.com/
2. Domicilium Decoratus - Kelly Wearstler. This book features her previous Beverly Hills residence. I am completely fascinated, and if you look at this book properly and take ideas from it, and not entire rooms - you can be 100% inspired. Her layering techniques and pairings are awesome.
3. Modern Glamour - Kelly Wearstler. Another KWID book. I love Kelly Wearstler. I think she is brilliant and no one does Interior Designing the way she does. This book shows some of her most creative works from hotels to private residences.

4. House of Turquoise - My favorite color is Turquoise and this blog by a chic named Erin is one of my favorites. http://www.houseofturquoise.com/

5. Long Beach Flea Market at Veterans Stadium - This place kicks a**! The prices are great, the selection is awesome and, its a lot more manageable than the Rose Bowl Flea Market.

6. Domino: The Book of Decorating: I probably look at this book at least once a week. It truly is a favorite - and with the magazine being put to rest, this is the closest thing there is. I love how it shows all different types of furniture, and gives examples and breakdowns on hot to get certain looks. It's brilliant and I suggest everyone picking up a copy. http://www.amazon.com/

7. Antique Malls - Yes, I am a serious nerd who loves walking thru an enormous Antique Mall. There is such a collection of so many different things from so many different vendors -- you never know what you are going to find. Wandering thru an Antique Mall is one of my favorite things to do. The best thing to do is google searches. Example: Miami, Florida Antique Mall

8. Material Girls Blog - This is such a fun blog - I can't tell you how much I enjoy getting their daily emails. They always keep you posted on the most up to date Interior Design trends. http://www.materialgirlsblog.com/

9. Elle Decor Magazine. There isn't much to say, everyone reads this! It's beautiful. It's hasn't replaced Domino, but its close. http://www.elledecor.com/

ModernDose.com

I was reading Metropolitan Home (June 2009 issue) the other day. I had no idea what an awesome magazine it was. I was under the impression that it was a super-modern, boxy style magazine. I was wrong, I admit.

So, I am reading this magazine and learn about a new website, Modern Dose - http://www.moderndose.com/ Not only is it cool, hip, and on top with the trends, but... the prices (for the most part) are pretty reasonable. Nothing out of this world! So, now we've got - cool, hip, and good price point. What else could this site have? You got it! An eco-friendly section. This site has it all.

The Flora Pouf. Love love love! How dreamy is this pouf? Its such a statement. All I want to do is stare at it.

Set of 3 Attraction Pillows. Too cute! I would love these in a little girl's bedroom.

Dreamy!

This reminds me of Jonathan Adler and how he loves Gnomes. Creepy, but still cute if you are into that sort of thing.
