What! What. What? With Brittany from 'For the Love of Gold'

Well - here's the next installment of What! What. What? with Brittany from For the Love of Gold. Brittany is a So. Cal girl with amazing style, a fresh attitude and a youthful heart! I'm a huge fan of her blog and I'm thrilled she taking part in the survey.

I'm Brittany Thomas, the gold loving writer of For the Love of Gold. I have the most charming boyfriend you'll ever meet, who has let me go crazy making our home a beautifully funky haven. I work in the advertising industry, working more hours than I'd like to count but when I finally find a minute to sit and relax, you'll find me obsessing over the amazing world we call the blogosphere.

1. What is your favorite spot in your home and why?
As shabby as it may sound, my favorite spot in my home is the view I get from my couch. From here I can see out into the San Diego harbor, I can muse at all of my funky finds and most importantly, I can catch up with Oprah.

2. What design trend have you always loved?
The design trend that I've obsessed over without fail has been my love for x-benches! I've never met a pair I didn't like. Lucky for me, I found a gorgeous vintage set at my local antique store. $160 for the pair! They've now been recovered and flank each side of our bed. They are my favorite pieces of furniture in our apartment and I feel great knowing that they're a staple I'll have forever.

3. Whats your best bargain purchase for your home?
My most favorite bargain was this piece of abstract art that I bought for just $60! Another vintage find from another local antique store, it has completely set a lively the tone for the rest of the apartment.

4. What's your favorite splurge?
My favorite splurge is a great pair of jeans. There's just nothing quite like a new pair of near-perfect fitting jeans. Don't get me wrong, a good pair of Tory flats sure gives me a pep in my step, but nothing can transform your wardrobe (or your attitude) like a new pair of jeans.

5. What do you do to spruce things up when you feel your home needs a lift?
When my space needs a little lift, I do one of two things. I'll splurge and buy some seasonal flowers from the farmers market. Or, I'll resolve to rearrange and restyle accessories. I always find that a fresh perspective on the styling of your surfaces (whether it be a desk, bookshelf, media console, coffee table, or even your couch!) makes the biggest difference.

6. Whats is something you are craving?
I'm craving a nice, long, relaxing vacation to somewhere tropical and remote.

8. I'm loud and outspoken, but boy am I shy!

9. Glam is Gold baby!

What! What? What. With Amy of The Huntress Lives!

As I announced last week - I'm starting a new feature on my site to highlight my favorite people in the design world - bloggers, designers, fashionistas, artists, creative spirits (my mom will pop up in here too... LOL) just people that I find amazing!

So -- of course I had to ask my first blogging friend to help me kick this off - Amy from The Huntress Lives is absolutely fantastic - SO -- I asked her 10 questions, and here's how she answered it!  Amy also included a few pics from her own home and they are gorgeous!!

Also - check out her blog - its beautiful!  HERE or click on picture below.

1. What is your favorite spot in your home and why?

Oh that's a hard one...I would have to say my living room.  I love this room because it's the most formal room in my house and I love formal, which is not a good thing since I have a CRAZY two year old boy!!!  Some of my most favorite pieces are in my living room including two white bookcases I recently purchased on a trip to Hickory, NC, a Hermes scarf I had framed that hangs above my fireplace and two yellow leather chairs from my Great Grandmother.

2. What design trend have you always loved?

I have always had a thing for wallpaper even when it was not in vogue!  I think it's makes a space so dramatic and bold!  I did a pink Manuel Canovas in my powder room and just ADORE it!!!

3. What’s your best bargain purchase for your home?

I have a lot because I LOVE a good deal but I have gotten a few amazing deals for my dining room.  Two lamps from Homegoods for $39.99 and a GORGEOUS pagoda mirror at a garage sale for $100!!!!

4. What’s your favorite splurge?
I love really nice bedding, there's nothing better than a luxurious bed!!!

5. What do you do to spruce things up when you feel your home needs a little lift?

Flowers are a great way to spruce things up and add a pop of color!  I also like to move my accessories around to mix things up!

6. What is something you are craving? (It doesn’t have to be design related)

A piece of modern art, I love to mix antique and modern pieces and I am heavy on antique right now so I need a FAB abstract painting to shake things up a bit.  I am loving Nicole Cohen's pieces on Etsy her work is divine.  Store here

7. What is something on your “To Do” list that has yet to be accomplished?

There are SO many projects I need to finish the list goes on and on!  One thing that comes to mind is I need to spray paint my brown ballroom chairs white to match my tulip table in my family room.

8. What is something about your self that would surprise people?

Even though I come from a long line of foodies, Olive Garden in my secret guilty pleasure!

9. What is “Glam” to you?

When I hear the word "Glam" these words come to mind...

-Feminine
-Alluring
-Details
-Dripping in gold
-Luxurious
-Plush
-Pink
-Animal Prints
-Lacquer
-Chinoiserie

Amy - Thanks so much for participating and helping me kick off my new little series!!  Your home is amazing and happy!  It really is a special space.  Stay tuned for next week's What! What? What.

New Segment!! and THANK YOU!

Hi Guys!

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I have a new segment coming up on The Glam Lamb, "The What! What. What?" And these are interviews with my favorite bloggers, designers, friends, family, creative resources and more.  It's taking time to get it up and organized, but I just wanted to give you the heads up that some really cool articles on fabulous friends are coming through here and I can't wait to hear what you guys think!

I must say that the blogging community is such an amazing world, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.  Every day I make new friends, learn new things, and really get inspired.  I look forward to seeing everyone's blogs and websites and businesses evolve.  So - thank you to everyone for following me thus far, and pushing me to think outside the box. My home has become more inspiring because of you, and that means a lot.

I hope you all are enjoying your holiday season.  I have so many wonderful things happening right now, I am so blessed.

All my love!
Hallie
