2009 Costume Institute Gala - lots of Gold!

It's Ironic. Last night I started working on an entry for The Glam Lamb about the color - gold, and how its one of my favorites, it's glamour, adds romance to a room etc. etc. I had this whole story planned. Then, I am reading thru my daily emails and I come across pictures from last nights 2009 Costume Institute Gala. And what do you know!? Many of the attendees were wearing golds, and bronzes and gleamed with beauty. The color gold is so radiating, and gives off such a wonderful flush glow - who wouldn't want to be surrounded by it?

Besides the glam aspect, its quite easy to place. Gold doesn't compete with wood - so you don't have to worry about matching it. Gold furniture and gold accent pieces stand great on their own or in a group. It's as simple as that.

This gold lamp would do fantastic in many places of the home. I could picture a pair of them on either side of a jewel toned bedroom, or a pair of these lamps on a sofa table. http://www.plantationdesign.com/
This set up (above) from http://www.plantationdesign.com/ is one of my favorites. I love the glammed up, dressed up feel to it. Now the looks would be completely different if it didn't have that gold coffee table. The gold coffee table added additional sparkle. Also - the color palette of citrine, blue and gold is a true hit!
