I don't like doing this.....

Alright - I don't really like posting personal home pictures up on my blog. I get really shy about it, because its just so personal.... But, I am going out of my comfort zone to see what you guys think of this part of my living room. Remember **IT'S A WORK IN PROGRESS!!**

Obviously the lamps need to be rewired and need shades, and the campaign stands need a high gloss paint job. But.... what do you think of the space? Here's the thing -- to the right of this is a huge bay front window with french windows and my sofa is in front of it. So this wall in the photo is the wall in between where the livig area is and the dining room (to the left). Its really - a random wall that needed attention.

Anyway, let me know what you think. Obviously the space will be filled out way better with the lamp shades. Also, if you have a suggestion of a color for the furniture to be painted - please do tell! I look forward to hearing what you think!

  1. YES! Love it all. Am SO jealous of those lamps! And that mirror!

  2. It looks great! :) You could leave it white, or it would be great in that peacock blue color. Like the color that Nate B painted the dresser in his sisters apt..

  3. Adore your campaign stands. Though I sort of want to see them separated (maybe with an ottoman between)?! And I actually like them in the ivory. Maybe paint the mirror instead? Though I do have a weakness for gold mirrors. So basically, I am no help. Okay, I'll add this, use a matte lacquer (which still has a nice sheen) instead of a high gloss lacquer. I think we'll be seeing much more matte lacquer....

  4. I've just spent a happy 20 minutes browsing here and liking all of the images you've posted. So I'm delighted to see a pic of your home - and, as expected, I love this look!

The lamps are great and, because they're so quirky I actually think red would be a great color for the campaign stands. But I don't know how that would work with the rest of your room. The peacock blue idea is also a great one and would look fabulous. Or have you considered painting the wall instead? Easier to change/undo later.

  5. I'm so glad you had a few moments to enjoy my blog! It's so fun keeping up with it! The lamps actually belonged to my grandmother that she dragged back from a vacation to China many many years ago, so they mean so much to me!
Thank you for your comments, I definitely will put up new pics when I get to completing it. That peacock blue actually is what I am thinking of doing... But I am sooo indecisive on color!! Thanks again for the input!

  6. What if you did the lamp shades in a peacock blue and leave the dressers white!! that would be cute! :)And that way its not such a big commitment.

  7. that's not a bad idea.... but the dressers need a fresh coat of paint any way... ugh! decisions.
