Paulie's Baby Room

My dear friend, Paulie is having a baby and I couldn't be more excited! To tell you a little about Paulie - she is probably the coolest girl I've ever met. She has an insane sense of style. AND - she is that girl you always want to be around. Whenever you're sad she will find the perfect song to play or get down and start dancing. Or if you are really lucky - she may even bust out a rap (yes - I am talking like Tupac styles!!).

So - this little girl who is coming in September is going to have a killer room. When Paulie told me she was pregnant (I figured it out on my own, by the way) I knew this room had to be fun and cheery, girly, and NOT cheesy. As well as extremely user friendly for her and her husband.

I won't be surprised if this little girl is rapping like Biggie Smalls before she crawls!

"Funny Face" vintage poster - this should be framed in a fantastic bright colored frame. I am pixturing either a bamboo frame painted a happy yellow. You can find other vintage posters on line (try ebay.)

Calais Chandelier from http://www.zgallerie.com/ I love this chandelier. I think it also has longevity, and will be able to be used in future rooms. But for the baby - I think it would be great to take turquoise and pink strands of beads a hang them from the arms of the chandelier. Its unexpected, whimsical, and another fun point for the baby to look at.

http://www.calicocorners.com/ - "Splendor Watermelon" fabric. This fabric would be great for the cushion on top of the dresser to make the changing table, great for piping, and bedding coordinates.

http://www.calicocorners.com/ "Sensuade Romaine" This color would do well for the chairs and as coordinates.

"Key West White and Pink: from http://www.calicocorners.com/ I'd love this on the chairs with the green piping (super preppy) as well s for the bed skirt for the crib and also as an accent for window dressing.
"Mandarin Summertime" fabric http://www.calicocorners.com/ This is the main fabric for a the crib bedding, piping, curtains, anything - this fabric could also be used to decorate baskets to go in the shelving. This fabric also would do great in throw pillows with turquoise pom-pom trim.

This owl was an antique mall find - All he needs is a spray primer (try Kils) and then a few coats of spray paint in a high gloss or satin finish bright color. For some reason I see yellow or a pretty pale blue. I love him!

dresser - http://www.potterbarn.com/ The top needs a cushion made by an upholsterer so that this can become a changing table. I would also consider changing the knobs to something a little bit more fun! Like happy turtle knobs.

Jane Crib at http://www.brattdecor.com/
Club chair - needs upholstering in a fun pattern. http://www.ballarddesigns.com/ . This could be done in the "Key West White and Pink fabric" and then throw some bargello pillows or fun needlepoint pillows in wacky colors on it. I do think it could be cool to have a tiny seating area in the baby's room. Maybe do 2 chairs with a small ottoman or garden stools. Everyone loves visiting the baby room!

http://www.target.com/ This book case needs bright fun baskets to keep it tidy, and a fun collection in the small cubbies.

RUG
http://www.1stdibs.com/ These flamingos could be best friends with the OWL!
