Putting my living room together - need feedback!

Well, I FINALLY painted my living room last weekend!! It took forever - but I am pleased with the results. I think I went to Sherwin Williams 4 times and Home Depot twice. awesome.

Now - these pics are a bit messy... but I wanted your opinion!

What do you think?
There is no better critiquing than from those who follow blogs - so keep me posted!
(constructive and positive is always appreciated)

WARNING: You will be seeing pics of this space a lot while I'm putting it all together and needing input!

Rarely do I do this....

As many of you know... I rarely do this, but I want to start getting pics of my place up on my blog. Here is a half shot of my living room, I've pu up a picture of part of this area already.... Once I find a rug, and finish things up.... I'll take a full shot of the room for you guys to critique. Would love to hear what you think!

Boho - Glam - O - Rific!

I always imagine the person who owns a particular space. For this boho-chic living room, I think it belongs to an amazing couple that are well traveled, they probably have been on a safari in Kenya and they probably are activists for clean water through out third world countries.

Well, whoever they are -- they have gorgeous taste. I love the hot pink and purple combination on that striped sofa with the gorgeous cow hide rug.

From the Personal File....

My living room sofa is identical to this one... so anytime I see it perfectly featured in a fun room like this.... I have to post! I am loving the colored zebra... This is definitely a future idea when its time to mix things up a bit. LOVE!

From the personal file....

This room is designed by Tricia Huntley and I love it. I love how simple it is and understated, classic, and gorgeous. I have that sofa - so it really gives me an idea of what I can do with the look in future. It's clean and balanced. Beautiful.

From the Personal File....

Not sure where I found this picture but I absolutely love it. It's got the suzani printed ottoman (obvious sign I'd be in love) and the flokati rug, and right now... I am in a purple phase. This has a clean funky vibe. Very cool.

Eileen Kathryn Boyd = Genius!

How insane is this room!?!? I love this room for many reasons, its just perfect. Interior Designer, Eileen Kathryn Boyd had a stunning room to work with from the get-go, but what she has done here is, made it magical.

1. Those windows are too beautiful to cover - so instead, they have been accentuated even more with the stunning khaki and white fabric with yellow trim. It's genius.
2. The neutral color palette of the soft khaki with the pops of yellow
3. The stainless steel/metal vibe giving it a modern touch.
4. The straight lined furniture with the softness coming from lush fabrics, tufting, happy accessories, and the classic vibe from the French windows.
5. The large hanging lamp over. (You can find a similar at http://www.cb2.com/)
6. The small hit of pale-turquoise with the center pillow on the sofa, and the book on the side table.
7. The 2 small tables acting as a coffee table, making them move a

My Personal Issue with Color...

So - I have an issue with color. Its more of an indecisive-ness. I have a fear that I'll pick a color and get sick of it, and not like it anymore. You have no idea how many pillows I have purchased and returned due to being fickle on the color. It's nuts. Right now my living room has a khaki color sofa and love seat (the sofa below is from Restoration Hardware and pretty much identical to what I have).
Then, I have a gold coffee wheat stack coffee table, gold nesting tables, and a teak black credenza for my television.

I also have a Chippendale-bamboo mirror (my camera is acting nutty, so I will have more pics up soon.) So - the basics, I have. But its the next layer that needs work. The color layer!!!
I have a few inspiring ideas....The first one I found in a blog posting from www.lauradaydesign.com/blog that dates back to June 2nd 2006 and I absolutely loved it, and I think this could go well back to my khaki sofa. It also is still very current and has elements that I love very much, like the geometric pattern and the ikat pattern.

- Manuel Canovas Trellis Wallapaper (top right) in Citrine http://www.cowtan.com/. Love the geometric shape to it!
- Osbourne and Little's Lorca Venus Pattern in Soline (purple in center)
- Lee Jofa's Groundworks Coggenshall solid in Lime (bottom left).
- Scalamandres' Colony Collection fabric in Laguna (bottom right) Love this ikat feel. http://www.scalamandre.com/.
- Old World Weavers Le Fluers De Morphe fabric in Daffodil (top left) makes all of these fabrics work so well together http://www.starkcarpet.com/

The next idea, which I think is going to be an easier inspiration/jumping off point is this living room belonging to Emily Walker, and was featured in Canadian House & Home Magazine. I love the basic backdrop of the khaki sofa, and then the tribal fabric hung above it - which announces the accent colors of the room. And of course, any room with a garden stool will definitely make me happy.
