Lets Bring the Outdoors In.

When it comes the time to make a New Years resolution... one of my home resolutions is to work on having a green thumb.  I kill all plants that come into my home.  I will say that I can get fresh cut flowers to live for 7-9 days (usually) - but for some reason, I murder plants!

Here is some inspiration for indoor trees.  Hopefully by January 1, I'll read up enough to prep me to never kill a plant again - and to not break my New Years resolution.  If anyone has any great tips (minus succelants) let me know!!

From the personal file.... and a new designer crush

I came across an Interior Designer I had never heard of before over at the blog: Full House. Her name is Kristen Hutchins and she is amazzzing, and has a serious amount of style. Big fan!! Here is just one room that she designed which is absolutely stunning. She gained a lot of trainng from being a Senior Designer with Kelly Wearstler. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
- Love the fabric on the pair of matching benches underneath the parson desk, and the mirror hanging above is perfect.
I wish the furniture here was placed closer together, to have a more intimate feel, but I do love all of the elements. Its absolutely gorgeous and well thought out.

Another Amanda Nisbet Feature

Its raining in LA, making it cold. I am not a big cold weather fan. It makes me complain a lot and kind of cranky. I would so much prefer to be sitting and relaxing in Amanda Nisbet's outdoor living room. I really, really, really like Amanda Nisbet. She is so talented and I love her use of color. The long drapes are beautiful and pair so interestingly with the baskets of shrubs, the wood flooring and purple paint. I am in love!

Holiday Wreaths

I am not a huge fan of the typical green wreath with the big red bow, I mean... yeah - it's nice and all, but its not special or original. Also, I'm Jewish. My mom never put a wreath on our door. Its just not something we did, but these two examples I absolutely love because they still have that holiday feel but in a more organic and green sort of way. Above is a wreath made from all Eucalyptus leaves.
And this wreath reminds me of a beautiful birds nest. i love the twigs sticking out and the different shades of color.

From the Personal File...

I need some type of living element in my place - problem is though, I wasn't blessed with a green thumb. Any plant I have ever brought into this place has been brutally murdered. I should not be allowed plants, pots, mulch, any of it. BUT I really, really, really want a tree in my living room. I want a Meyer-lemon tree. Here are some of my inspirations.
