From the personal file. In need of a desk chair.
So - I have ordered a parsons desk for my foyer/office. I am pretty excited... Pictures will come up as soon as I get it under way (and the desk actually comes - Nov. 23). I need to also paint too. PROJECTS are taking over! Anyway - the chair of my dreams is on sale... But it doesn't look all that comfortable to sit on for long periods of time.... It's the Crystal Chiavari Chair from Stacking Chair Store.
Any thoughts for a desk chair that isn't too "desk-y" that will still look great in a foyer and comfy would be awesome! I am quite demanding...

A Punch of COLOR Never Hurt Anyone!
Its amazing how well this room is put together with just the right amount of crazy. But there sure is a lot going on... the rug, chair, pops of yellow, bamboo nigh stand, the pouf, headboard, screen divider... and it goes on! I don't know if I could pull off this much layering....
what do you think?

Multi-tasking a piece of furniture
I like spaces that read "smart." This bar cart makes the perfect end table/night stand, and then can be transformed to use its bar cart duties when its time to entertain. It is beautiful and functionable.
Gotta love that!

Best Kept Secret.... and a little story!
I am not one to give all my sources... but for you Glam Readers.... I'll share this one...
Everything in this store is in amazing condition. There is no junk, and the prices are good for how amazing the stuff is!!
So... today - I was on my way to Home Depot, and traffic was weird, so I started going alternate routes to get there. When I noticed this random mid century-ish sofa sitting outside a store front. So, I looked and noticed this could be a possible gem. And of course - my intuition was dead on. This shop had the most amazing vintage/mid century finds (and some random appliances - but forget that part)! I grabbed a few pics for you, and a business card and went on my merry way!
So - if you are ever in the LA/Hollywood area - you gotta hit this spot up!

These lamps.... all I can say. They are like art. |
this picture is weird. the furniture is all stacked so these are all on top of each other. |

From the personal file...
This right here pretty much sums up my look. I love this. It's bright and chinois-happy. It's got a gold bamboo coffee table, a tufted settee, a cow hide rug, with an edge with those interesting floor lamps. Amazzzing.

Oh Ralphie....How I love you.
Yeah.. be jealous. Ralph Lauren and I have pet names for eachother... Total joke. He doesn't even know I exist. But if he did, I would have him gift me the following items from his sick furniture collection.

Tray Tables at Zara Home
If Zara Home stores existed in the United States - I would definitely snatch up these two tray tables. The bamboo one is obviously right up my alley, but the lucite one would be fantastic - because I don't have any lucite in my home.... Anyway - neither one are an option as all of the Zara Home stores are international... oh well. Has anyone ever been to a Zara Home store?

Chinoiserie in Palm Springs....
Here are more pics from my trip last weekend in Palm Springs. Saw a ton of bamboo furniture and Chinoiserie pieces, so if that's what you are looking for - I definitely recommend driving out to the desert.

Another decision has been made!
Well kiddos.... I have some good news. I have conquered yet another one of my issues with indecisiveness!! I decided on a print for the dining room chairs and I love!
Above is how they originally looked. Lifeless, ugly, brown corduroy... gross!

Life's little indulgences
I like drinking breakfast tea with a couple packets of splenda in a fancy tea cup before I go to bed. Below is the "tea-cup-of-the-moment." It makes me feel fancy drinking out of a cup like this, when any other person would probably just grab a random mug. Anyway - if you self indulge in anything, big or small - please share! Would love to hear!

JA @ South End Urban Showhouse
Last week was The South End Urban Showhouse in Boston. Many, many hot names designers took part in designing stunning rooms. Here is Jonathan Adler's. His is a little typical of what he does - but its his look - and I do like it a lot.
His bargello and needlepoint pillows always make me smile!

Gold Bamboo...again!
Check these pretties out. Just got them yesterday. Please excuse the ugly picture on the right - that's what came inside the frame. Right now - I am debating - I have a vintage Suzani that I got at a flea market several months back and possibly thinking of cutting it in half and framing the two sides in these frames.... I am completely on the fence. Anyway - I heart them and was so glad to take them home with me.
