From the personal file: Pale purples and greys make a dreamy bedroom suite.

I recently saw this bedroom/living area suite featured at House of Turquoise and I just can't stop looking at it.  I know many of you have already seen it, but I wanted to share it again.  This room is livable, very stylish, soothing and yet not over top. I love how the wood walls are slidable to make it one room, or two, and the color palette and the choice of fabrics is perfection.

Love it!

Realistic Foyers

I love walking into my home with everything in its place and organized.
For me - A foyer needs to function. Here's the criteria:
1. It's gotta look good.
2. It needs to look good while being a place to keep the things you need to walk out of the house (umbrella, keys, leash... whatever you need...)
3. It needs to be able to stay organized. It shouldn't need to be re-organized. It totally should work for you.

Tell me about yours! I'm working on mine - but pics to be up soon!

Go big or go home... Small Spaces

Small spaces can require a little bit of an extra thought process, but one thing many misconstrue is feeling that small spaces require small pieces of furniture.  That is not the case at all.

Here are 3 example of some gorgeous spaces that use large pieces of furniture, maximize the space without it looking cramped, have some serious amounts of style,
all while making it feel large and in charge!

A Great Tip for Studio Apartment Living!

Right here is the perfect example of making studio apartment living work.  This room completely maximizes the space while looking rich and luxe.

Here are some great tips for making your studio apartment work!
1. Pick a color story and have it reign through the entire place.  This white and pink/red palette works perfectly.   Try to pick a neutral and a pop color.
2. Section off certain areas by using an area rug.   The rug in this room completely give a living room feel.
3. Another way to section off areas is through paint and wallpaper.  The stripes behind the bed are solely for the "bedroom".
4. Pick a pattern and bring it throughout.  It gives cohesiveness, even if you are making designated areas.
5.  Make the space feel special with details like gorgeous lighting, intriguing furniture.

Multi-tasking a piece of furniture

I like spaces that read "smart." This bar cart makes the perfect end table/night stand, and then can be transformed to use its bar cart duties when its time to entertain.  It is beautiful and functionable.
Gotta love that!

What to do with a 600 sq. ft. space....

Who would have thought that a 600 square foot apartment could look, feel and actually be this spacious?!  The bright color and well thought out floor plan is really quite amazing.  It has clean lined furniture, and such a fun punch of color.
Fab kitchen with great punchy colors

Love this bathroom fyi....

The besty needs a coffee table

My best friend lives in Venice Beach - amazing! Her apartment** is a stones throw to the beach and has so much charm and character. Great built-in cabinets and an old-school vintage white stove... those kinds of charmers.

Below is a picture of her coffee table (actually this one is extremely similar - hers is a bit more rectangle... but still, its pretty close). It's a bad ass coffee table, but its huge. After a text message several weeks ago saying after the hundredth bruise and almost cracking her head open - she has had enough - it was time to replace. So the coffee table hunt for Christine has begun. She mentioned so many ideas of what she would want so I just did a search for a few things and hopefully this will be a good jumping off point. Her apartment is white and black with hints of yellow and turquoise. She has amazing taste - It's Hollywood Regency meets mid-century boho. Its awesome!

2. Nate Berkus for HSN (currently this one is on sale and one of my personal faves!)
3. Amazzzing campaign coffee table from a thrift shop in Compton. $35! Would be incredible painted.
4. Coffee table from St. Paul's thrift shop in Burbank, CA - needs a coat of paint. $65
5. Two of these cubes would be great. Target
6. X-style coffee table, multiple colors available. West Elm
7. Cubes from Plexi-craft. 2 of these would be great. Check out Here to see what Vanessa De Vargas did with similar cubes.
**Images of her place will be up on The Glam Lamb in future posts!

A neat idea for a side table.

Vanessa De Vargas of Turquoise in Venice, CA designed this side table for her living room. I love it. It's different and interesting, and such a great space saving. I do know that she lives in a small bungalow in Venice Beach.... those tend to be small - so I bet she has some amazing space saving ideas.

One happy little living room

Love this room and all the amazing details involved! It's so fun and vibrant! It's also not the largest of spaces, so I think they fit a lot of great strong pieces to maximize each inch. And that dog in the corner is way chic.

Large Mirror Illusions

What a great space! I love how that enormous mirror makes this room look way bigger!

Marcia Cross's Trailer

You won't believe this, but these images below are from Marcia Cross's trailer on the set of Desperate Housewives. It's pretty amazing. Designer, David Brian Sanders took the basic 12 x 30 foot space and turned it into a lavish retreat for the star to enjoy during breaks. The majority of the furnishings come from Grace Home in Brentwood.

I wonder what Eva Longoria's trailer looks like?
